I’m working on a book full of lists that start with the name of a food outlet (different for each list entry), followed by a colon and then the products available at the outlet.

I need to format the food outlet names and colons in bold and blue while the rest of each entry is simply roman in black.

Sometimes the name of the food outlet is a single word, sometimes two or three.

See here for an example : https://i44.tinypic.com/5v2b6r.jpg

Can this be done with a Nested Style and if so, how?

Or is there a better way to do it with that magical GREP (which I haven’t spend any time with, so I’m a complete n00b on the subject).

Yes, that is exactly what nested styles are for! You can find a tutorial here: https://creativepro.com/watch_listen/episode-11-nested-style-sheets-video
or in my lynda.com title “InDesign Essential Training” or elsewhere.

Ha, so simple once you know how to. I couldn’t find the colon as an option and didn’t realise I can just type it in. Brilliant. Despite searching here and elsewhere for a solution I never came across this nugget.

Thanks for the link, David. And thanks for the tut, Michael.
