Hi there. I'm having to set up the Financial Statements section in two Annual Reports and, although I've always only used tabs to do this, I am now wondering whether using tables would be a better option. Can anyone advise me please?

Personally I use Tables all the time for these.

It's easier to apply separating lines, and separating colours behind the text. A lot more flexible in moving columns.

You'll just need to have paragraph styles for Double Underline, Single Underline and other things.

It's pretty straight forward. I find that if you use an En Space or Figure Space before the numbering to extend the Underline a bit from the text, you can even include it on the other side.

Thank you for your quick response Eugene. I'm definitely going to give a go and see how it works out… hopefully save me hours and hours of tedious tab-setting! Thanks again.

tables. hands down. after years of using tabs in quark, and then going to indesign and using tables, i'd never go back to tabs.

      Hi Eugene

I'm about to try this as well and I'm wondering how you format the rules that go across 7 to 10 columns. Would you just have a separate row?

      Thanks in advance
