Hello, have a question about tri fold brochure design.
How should i mark document for printing company, to be sure that they will fold it correctly?
For myself I put guides where should they be folded, but when you export the PDF, there are no guides for them to fold .
So do they already have some setting for folding bi fold/ tri fold designs or should I make something with document before sending?

I use bleed and put a marker line that will show only on the bleed
I don’t know of something better, anyone has a better idea?

So best way is to just manually draw dashed line ?
And is it ok to but it in bleed area or should I place it in slug?

I would say outer bleed is OK

You can put it in the bleed area or the slug area, but I I typically use a slug area because the bleed area is too small.

However, note that if you have set up your trifold as 3 pages on a single spread, then you can just use the regular crop marks when making a PDF, and InDesign will draw the folder marks for you.

David’s suggestion to use pages set up in a spread is also beneficial if your printer requires one panel, usually the right-most, to be slightly narrower than the other pages.
