I produce a magazine for a nonprofit. I convinced the editors that if they got InCopy they could make all their own edits and save money instead of paying me to input all of their copyedits into the Indesign file.

Alas, what I didn't count on is that proofreaders and editors may be great at finding mistakes, but not great at fixing them correctly. They might make a typo, or misuse an em dash, etc. So they were introducing new mistakes, and the worst part was I couldn't tell what had been changed. Once I accepted their updates, there was no way for me to see what they had changed unless it was glaringly obvious.

Is there a way to have the InCopy changes tracked in such a way that I can see the flags in InDesign, so I can verify that their changes are OK?

Thanks in advance for the help!

They need to turn on Track Changes in InCopy. If you have CS5 I think these translate over – but you can only see these edits in the Story Editor.

Thanks – we'll give that a try and report back.
