Too many pasteboard elements?

Can a excess of elements left on the pasteboard, not only on the left and right but also on top and bottom, cause InDesign to crash regularly? A colleague of mine has that problem (not me, I swear!) and I was wondering if her use of the pasteboard as a dumping space might be the problem…

Hi Linda! Well… I suppose it’s possible, but not highly likely. Unless there were hundreds or thousands of objects out there.

There are so many reasons why ID can crash… outdated plug-ins, bad images, bad fonts, bad phase of the moon…

I’m trying to figure out why my colleague has been having ID crashing problems for years. She was using an older Mac and Adobe CS6; she just bought a new Mac and subscribes now to Abobe CC but the problems are stlll there. I’ve been working with some of her documents without any problems (except for some PDFs of her files crashing sometime on a particular page), and the first thing I noticed was all those elements on the pasteboard.

She says that sometimes it’s the beach ball rolling non-stop, other times it just freezes.

Is there an article somewhere listing detailed known causes for common ID crashes?
