      How do YOU deal with the unintuitive line spacing between TOC paragraph styles?
      In the example below, the line spacing between the headings is good when the headings follow one another, but when preceding or following a different tag (Subhead) the spacing is too small. I can’t believe that this is acceptable for all the distinguished writers out there.(?)

      4.3.10 Alarms……………………..4-45 <= Subhead
      4.4 Auxiliary Push-Buttons………….4-46 <= Heading
      4.4.1 The Overhead Switch ……4-47 <= Subhead
      4.5 Stack Light…………………………..4-48 <= Heading
      4.6 Startup Procedure…………………4-49 <= Heading

      Well, my spacing in the example didn’t come across. Is there a way to post a picture?

      ToCs can be tricky. You can post an image on a site like https://postimage.org and then include a link (or img tag? not sure) here.

      The image “TOC good” is what I’d like to see. The image “TOC Not good” is what I get from IDCS6.

      I would suggest adjusting the Space After setting for the Level 2 toc entry paragraph style.

      David,

      I thought of that, but then I get this:

      Now there is too much room between multiple level 2 entries. ??

      Funny you should bring this up, because it is exactly the kind of thing we are talking about here:

      Changing Formatting Based on Story Location

      No, you cannot currently manage that kind of spacing automatically. You would have to apply the space manually, for each paragraph.

      I had the same problem a while ago, at the end I simply aligned it to a baseline grid, it worked wonderously.

      Baseline grid *solved* something? ;-D I would love to learn how. Please provide details!

      Just had all lines of the TOC align to baseline grid, so no matter the space before or after or even the leading, as long as it didn’t go beyond the amount of the grid, all lines appeared beautifully and evenly spaced.
