TOC entry has incorrect nesting level

I created an ePub file with 7 sections which contain 5 chapters each. I setup each section TOC identically – using a paragraph style for the section headings and another paragraph style for the chapter headings. On the device TOC, one of the sections won’t display the chapters. I keep getting the error: “TOC: 1 skipped (TOC entry has incorrect nesting level)”.

I setup the TOC to show the paragraph style for the section headings as level 1 and the paragraph style for the chapter names as level 2. I can’t figure out what is wrong with the section that has the error. As I said, it is setup the same as the other chapters. When I look at the toc.ncx file, I can see the missing chapter headings. Any idea how to correct this error?

      Thanks,
      Lora Westberg

The times I’ve run into that error (incorrect nesting level), I find I have a level 2 entry without a level 1 entry above it. I would go back and double check the section heading for that section with the missing entries and make sure it has the proper paragraph style applied.

I have such problem even with correct TOC entries

I can see many complains for this issue in web, and actually no one solved.

        yes it is right.
for us (human) it is correct to start TOC with level 2 (for example level 2 can mean a dedication or predict)
it will be great for PDF, but not epub
if epub sees such situation it simply rejects such entry of level 2 and go straight to next level 1
