      Greetings fellow inDesign enthusiasts!

I have an excel file that I’d like to import into inDesign as a series of tables. The file has a large number of columns which exceeds the width of a page. I can’t seem to get the over-set columns to thread into another text box. As far as I understand threading only works with rows. I didn’t find much about this online so am I simply overlooking some simple option somewhere?

      Thanks in advance!

InDesign table flow vertically, rows, not horizontally, columns.
Flowing horizontally does not make a lot of sense as they really become separate tables.

You could ether separate the data in Excel into a couple of worksheet and import separately or do the same in InDesign buy cutting and pasting the columns to make two separate tables.

That’s unfortunate news indeed… Anyways I ended up separating them manually but that just felt wrong and may be problematic with any future changes.

        Thanks,

When I deal with tables with a lot of columns, I either sideturn it (landscape on the page); or extend across facing pages (spread).[in the latter case I compensate for the gutters.
