    I've got these text boxes that I'd like to drop into my document as anchored text boxes. If they don't fit entirely on the page (and usually they don't), I want to thread them to another text box anchored into the document.

    When I click on the plus sign, nothing happens.

    Is there a workaround?

    I really need to anchor these text boxes, because text changes are making all of my pages rebreak, and I don't want to have to
    repeatedly manually move the text boxes. Is there a way or a plug-in I can get to make this work?

    That's a hard problem. InDesign won't let you thread anchored objects. Sorry. I would suggest looking at some of the automation tools at https://in-tools.com/plugins.ht….. 

    Perhaps they have something that would help automate the layout?

    You can group them when they are threaded, and then anchor those, but it's a bit strange the way the frames behave then. But the text remains threaded.
