OK I have had this problem with threaded text as I need to go from .indd to epub. Using the articles panel I come across threaded text in two different scenarios I will explain.

First, I have an indd page with threaded text across 3 columns. If I select that text and add to the articles panel the epub only displays the first column of text. I ‘m thinking that because the text is threaded this is happening. I also look in the articles panel as I drag the second and third solumn of text by themselves and it dispalys the first column as well.

Second scenerio, I have another .indd file with threaded text and images which set inbetween the paragraphs. Of course when expoerted straight to e pub the images are last so I need to use the articles panel to place the images where they belong but again I have the threaded text issue as when I drag the first page of text to the articles panel it drags the entire book of text.

I was reading about a script that changes threaded text to regular? Before I looked into it I thought I’d ask this here.

      Any help?

      I’m in CS6

      Ralph,

I believe that the solution to your second scenario might solve the first.

Are the images just placed in-between two threaded text frames or are they anchored into the text? It sounds as if you have them sitting between the text frames or over the frame with text wrap turned on. If so, consider anchoring these objects. Look for the solid square on the top of your object frames located in between the top-center and top-right adjustment points. Drag from this marker to your text. It will anchor to the text and automatically export in the proper order. In addition, consider keeping hidden characters turned on so that you can see the anchor point.

In regard to your first scenario, threaded text frames are considered to be one item. I assume that you want them to be separate in order to properly order the images you have placed in-between. Anchoring your images to the desired location should take care of that.

Let me know if that solves your problem.

Thanks for the reply, I found a neat little script called story splitter. One click and bye bye threaded text. Now that thats solved my next problem would be the images inbetween the now UN threaded text. I know about anchoring and the image / text relationship is acting a bit weird as I have a text box with a caption on the top THEN the image inside with about a 10 pxl margin all the way around. So I have been anchoring the text box to the closest word but I cannot get the text to completely wrap around the image as I need this to work in e pub export. So I have to make that work , if not then I have to manually insert the text / image boxes in between each paragraph.

I just got the first part of the paragraph then the image ( top and bottom) no wrap then the second part of the paragraph.

Can I completely wrap it for e pub export???

      thx

      Ralph,

I cannot answer that question. Hopefully someone else can chime in.
