      I've just upgraded from Indesign 3 to 5 and I'm now experiencing problems in getting text wrap to work at all (and I can't access the 'text frame option' in the drop down menu). Has anyone else had any issues with it or am I just missing something here?

      When you say it won't work, what exactly does that mean?

      Does it work incorrectly? Does this problem effect all files?

      Have you tried right clicking and choosing text frame options that way?

      Do you have a workspace that doesn't show all menu items enabled?

      thanks for your response and queries. Up until the upgrade I've never had any problems working with text wrap. The 48pp publication layout I was working on was created in Indesign 3 last year and had text wraps throughout. Now that I'm in CS5 and need to do amendments to the layout, I found that when I selected the new imported text, the 'text frame option' would only appear in grey and selecting text wrap for my object had no influence on the text no matter where I positioned it. However, your question 'does this affect all files' got me to try out a newly created CS5 file and using imported and created text, the text wrap works fine and there's no issue with accessing the 'text frame option'. So I guess there's something going on with the previous C3 file being brought up to C5. I'm just going to try to work around it.

      You might try exporting that file to IDML and opening that. That might clear out any corruption in the file.

      thanks for the suggestion…but alas it didn't sort it out. However I found that if I created the text wrap shape in a new Indesign file and copied that into my layout file it then worked on wrapping the text. Not sure why…but it works.

      it's an objectsituation thing;

      look into your program preferences, there's a new feature that says:

      textwrap applies only to objects underneath.

      Especially with layers (in which i throw textframes into a layer above all images) there was a big questionmark on top of my head when i upgraded from cs2.

      good luck
