Text reflows when creating pdf

      When I export a file (CS5.5) for a book with integrated images and text as a pdf some parts of text reflows, and elements move.

      The layout is in 2 columns.

      I am using a pdf setting supplied by our printer (litho), with PDF x-1a.

      Oddly when I change this to PDF x-4 this does not happen, but it causes the transparencies to no longer be flattened.

      Is there anything I can do here? Everything worked fine in CS4.

      I am not sure if it is the pdf setting or the transparency flattener preset that is at fault.
