I was wondering if there is any way to target a specific Section Marker using a GREP style in it's paragraph style.

Targetting a section marker is easy but what if i want this GREP to be applied to lets say the section marker of section 2 in my magazine.

This is what I want to do.

I name my sections using the sections and numbering panel. My magazine has sections like lifestyle, design, leisure, etc.

These section markers are placed on my master in the top left corner. The trick is that every section has a different color applied to the marker. Is there any way using GREP to let it target the lifestyle section marker and give it a different color.

Or does anyone know of another way to achieve this. (My current solution is using a different “based on” master for every section)

Based on Masters is the only way I've ever been able to do it.

I requested before that Masters should have their own “colour” associated to them.

Then on the Master page you specify that text is the Master Colour.

You then right click on the Master Page and set the “Master Page Swatch Colour”

But in CS5 what I see is a way to label the Master Pages with colours – it would be great to be able to assign any swatch to a Master Page and let that Master Page colour be a swatch to assign to objects and text.

      Someday.

Yes that would be a very useful option. The route I took now is creating a global masterpage and then create a based-on master for every section and override and recolor the running headers on those masters, it works but for an automation maniac like myself this thing could work a lot easier if we had the option to create master swatches like you suggested, or a way to use grep styles that can target sections would open up a lot of doors too.

Thx for your view on the mather mister Tyson.
