Table width in Epub – fixed or variable

I used the same method to put 8 tables into an document.
Each table came in its own PDF file, so I
      -exported to word
      -converted to text
      -pasted text into Indd
      -made text into table

BUT, when I export to (reflowable) epub, 4 of the tables have fixed width and the other 4 have variable width depending on the width of the viewer pane.

I’ve looked as carefully as I can for differences in the table setting, but I cannot see what differences occur.

Each table is in its own centred paragraph in the story.

      ???

      A mystery!

Do the fixed width tables have images in any cells, perhaps? Or did you define a width for a column/s in them?

Another clue is to look at the HTML for them, if you’re brave…

Many thanks for the reply Anne-Marie.

I had forgotten about this because the differences are only visible when you look at the Epub in ADE, and hardly anyone will be using that method for this epub.

But after this reminder I did look at the html and they are identical structures for all 8 tables.

So that pointed to the error – one of those “DUUUH how ridiculous” moments – It was the common ID-10-T error
How the !@#$% did I not see that all the so-called fixed width tables had short lines and the flexwidth tables longer, wraparound lines!!!

Thanks for pointing me to the revelation!! Mystery solved.

      Yay!

But … what the heck is the “common ID-10-T” error?
