All —
A graphic designer by training, I've been working almost exclusively on websites for the last decade or so. But I recently offered to help a friend with a POD book and I'm having to get back to some serious InDesign work. I have several questions, but let's start with tables. I've encountered a few oddities that I can't figure out how to fix:
1.) The tints in my cell fills do not print consistently. This is also true of text frames where I set a background tint, as in a sidebar. Basically, they all look uniform on-screen. But when I print they come out either right (I have a 5% screen set) or pretty dark — like 40%. I've checked and rechecked the parameters on the dark ones and they're all set to 5%, same as the light ones. Very frustrating and I don't have a clue what could be causing this print disparity.
2.) Whenever I set a thick/thin border on a table, the thiness/thickness is inverted on the right and bottom sides. So the left and top is thick (on the outermost rule), then thin (inside). But on the right and bottom, it's thick (inside) and thin (outside). Most people wouldn't notice this probably, but it's annoying. Anyway to fix?
3.) Whenever I try to edit a table style, I can't seem to edit the vertical and horizontal rule weight and color unless I choose the “Alternating” otion. I don't want an alternating scheme, but I do want to be able to edit these in a style so I can easily apply and reuse them. What am I missing?
Thanks so much.
