      Hello-
Let me try and explain this as best as I can w/o being able to show it.

I am trying to set up a price sheet, right now it is in Excel and comes into InDesign like this small sample below, the actual spreadsheet is very large. Each line is its own row. Will explain what I need below.

Black Spray Paint 80-888 $9.99 20 oz. aerosol can
Black Spray Paint 80-888C $12.99 20 oz. aerosol can
White Spray Paint 80-560 $8.99 16 oz. aerosol can
White Spray Paint 80-560C $10.99 16 oz. aerosol can

What I am looking to be able to do is have it set up like below. Lines 1 & 2 from above would be able to be combined into ONE line and the duplicate info of “black spray paint” & “20 oz. aerosol can” would be deleted.

Black Spray Paint 80-888 $9.99 20 oz. aerosol can
      80-888C $12.99
White Spray Paint 80-560 $8.99 16 oz. aerosol can
      80-560C $10.99

So needless to say I have been plugging at this for awhile now and cannot figure out anything or how to even get started on this. Hoping someone out there has seen this before and can lead me in the correct direction.

      Thanks,
      Sam

This post did not keep the formatting like I typed it up. But is you look at what I have the example is 4 columns and if you look at it you should be able to see where it is broken up.

Have you looked at my course “InDesign Essential Training” on LinkedIn Learning (Lynda.com)? I have a chapter in there about how to format tables, including merging cells, and so on. Diane Burns has a course there that goes into even more depth on what you can do with tables.

You might also be able to use GREP to remove that information before you import. The Excel file would probably need to be converted to a CSV or TSV first, and then open it in a text editor like Sublime Text to do it.
