This issue have been bothering me for quite a long time, and to address how deep this issue is, this is actually my first post on indesignsecret.com, anyway

I use shortcut to move/select/delete word/lines/para… in indesign, one shortcut i use a lot is the cmd delete, which delete a word before, but when im in a table cell and i want to delete this word, the whole roll is being deleted, and then I realised whats’s going on, and cmd Z, and sht-cmd-left arrow to select the word then delete. or use my trackpad to select the word then delete, either way, this creates a lot of steps.

I want to know if there’s any method i can work around with it w/o disable the shortcut (as I still find it useful sometimes)

Hey Marlon, welcome to the InDesign Secrets forum!

One workaround would be to just modify the Delete Row shortcut to something different but similar (one that you can remember, maybe add one or two more modifier keys to Cmd+Delete shortcut, like Shift+Cmd+Delete which is available to assign in my shortcuts) in your Keyboard Shortcuts.

Thank you so much Aaron, I think that’s the only way to do for now. Personally I find that I use that shortcut for deleting spread more often than delete rows, yours is definitely a good shortcut for memory for sure ;)

which you just inspired me that we can use ctl-del and ctl-sht-del to delete rows and columns, a much better way to remember and not conflicting

That makes total sense, it strikes me as odd that they have one default shortcut for two different actions like this. Glad you were able to find something that works better for your work flow!
