System requirements for InCopy

We are just beginning to explore the IC/ID workflow. Our IT staff is about to purchase a new computer for one of our editors who will be using InCopy, and he asked me what the RECOMMENDED specifications are for someone who is running InCopy. We were able to find the minimum system requirements on Adobe’s website, but “minimum” does not necessarily guarantee the best performance. So, I thought I would ask here: what specifications would you recommend for a machine that will be running InCopy? We are working in a Windows environment and most of her work will be done on our server, but she also might need to do remote editing as well.

      Thanks!

I would recommend 8 GB of RAM and a fairly zippy processor, since opening up these files over the network takes more heavy lifting than opening Word files.

Working remotely, the editor would need to either dial in via VPN (and again, work off the server … no copying to local and uploading after) or use Dropbox, which lets them work locally in a local shared/synch Dropbox folder.
