Swapping user dictionaries

We have one client who requires us to use one system of hyphenation and others who want us to use another. So we would like to set up two separate user dictionaries and select which one to use depending on the project. But it seems that user dictionaries can only be set on a global basis, so if we’re flipping between projects for different clients we have to remember to change the user dictionary in the preferences each time, rather than have it automatically remembered as part of the file preferences.

I know we could merge the user dictionary with the document dictionary and then remove the user dictionary altogether, but that doesn’t help if the dictionary needs updated as it’ll be difficult to propagate the change to all relevant documents.

Is there any way that we can set a user dictionary as a document preference rather than a global preference?

I don’t think so, besides the painful document dictionary set up you describe. ID isn’t really designed to handle that kind of situation.
