      Hi everyone,

I'm going to be teaching a basic college-level Indesign class where I introduce the students to main functions of InDesign and have them work on design projects to reinforce what they've learned (things like book cover design, business card, etc).

To help give the students a sense of how design relates to their world, I'm going to assign reading and wanted to ask what you here would suggest? So far I'm considering this article on Clearview when we cover typography – it shows how important typography is – and I'm also thinking of Deborah Adler's redesign of the Target prescription bottle.

Can anyone suggest anything else? Thanks!

InDesign is great for publishing to mobile devices as well as the Internet, I would cover the ability to print to tablets and the importance of layout and design. I think you are on the right track.

I would also cover the interactive elements of InDesign as there are a few different ways in which to offer more than just a readable document.

And can anyone suggest tutorials on how to create an interactive document in InDesign?

No prob! Publishing online is so much cooler than traditional magazines and the possibility for interacting with readers is what's really important. I would also cover some social marketing and sharing aspects as the information age allows us to connect like never before.
