Has anyone had issues with styles based on another style not updating properly when the original style is changed?

If you change some setting in the new paragraph, won’t update again when you change it in the master paragraph

I’m having the issue even when creating the style. It doesn’t seem to be pulling the settings from the based on style at all. Any suggestions?

Is there a character style also applied to the text? That will override the paragraph style.

No, that is not my issue. I see it happens only on object styles. Even if I’m creating an object style from scratch and choose an object style to be based on it does not pull any features at all.

Tzivi: Ah, that is very interesting. I don’t usually use “based on” with object styles, so I forgot how this worked. It does act weird and a bit different than other styles.
To create one object style based on another, choose from the Based On popup menu… and then click the “Reset to Base” button! That makes this style the same… and then you can make changes. Does that work?
