      Hello Guys,

I have a text with a stroke. I want to change the stoke with a style, let’s say: dashed. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE!!! I rememember I could do it with older version of Indesign. It is not possible anymore with Indesign CC 2018?

Or can I change something on the poreferences etc.? For me it is a no-go that I can not change the stroke style on a text without creating an outline of the text. I want that the text is editable and choosing several stroke styles.

      Thanks in advance.

      Linus

      Hi Linus,
I have several InDesign versions installed on my Mac, no one of that can apply stroke styles to live text.

Do you remember which version could do this?

Are you sure you did not outline the text first then add the dashed stroke?
I think this is the only way you could add this to text in InDesign now in Illustrator you can do this.

      Hey guys,

I confused it maybe with Illustrator. Got also help from the adobe indesign forum and they say it was never possible.

      The only two ways are:

      a) Menu Type > Create Outlines (bad!)

      b) Same menu, press the Alt Key (Windows)/ Option key (?, Mac) and choose Create Outlines . This will create a copy of the text as path exactly over the editable text. Now you can modify the stroke.

or just with illustrator and appereance panels etc.

Nevertheless I don’t see the point why it shouldn’t work with editable text on Indesign. Adobe should change that! ;p

      Thx for your answers!!

Adobe can be strange with what features they include in one program and exclude from others.
Adding the appearance panel from Illustrator to InDesign would be a great.
