Stop panel groups from docking to other panel groups

Call me old school, but I do not want groups of panels to dock vertically with other groups of panels. I’m working on a smallish screen, for one thing, and I already have collected together the panels I want to appear with each other. (The key is to make sure at least one panel in each group has a keyboard shortcut.)

Is there no triple-secret preference/setting to turn off all this magnetized attraction?

When one group accidentally grabs on to another, it’s a PITA to remove one set of items one at at time and put them back together in a solo group in the right order.

      This just makes me grumpy.

The best solution is — once you get the panels just the way you want them — save it as a custom workspace (Window > Workspace > New Workspace)
Then, whenever it gets messed up (and it will, inevitably), you can choose Window > Workspace > Reset to get it back to its original form.

Yeah, good point. I guess that means there’s no way to stop this insanity in the first place. Sometimes, I miss the days before all this outsmarting crept in. LOL

Problem is that I’m constantly opening and closing panels as needed, so there’s no one “golden” arrangement that works all the time.

And am I the only one who wishes Adobe would add a search feature to its lengthy Prefs modal? Eesh.

I would be more than happy to vote for that eminently sensible proposal, Mike, if the UserVoice system actually would let me log in.

I verify my device, and no e-mail message ever arrives…

This is not the first such proposal for which I’ve tried to vote.

Never trust a system with a camel-case name. LOL
