We are a weekly newspaper using InDesign 5. To avoid misspelling names, we’d like to be able to have a custom dictionary of full names.

      For example

Custom dictionary contains “George Washington” “Andrew Jackson” and “Harry Truman”
If news article contained “George Truman”, we would want it to be flagged as an error (even though “George” and “Truman” are valid on their own).

So we’re looking for a way to look for a pattern of first and last names and flag any that aren’t in a given list. Might there be a third-party work-around for this?

Great idea… I’m not sure if there’s any way to do that. There are some third party spelling tools, such as:

It’s like what you really want is a “phrase check”!

Right! A “phrase check” is exactly what we want, where the phrases, in our case, are full names. I’d think a lot a newspapers would find that extremely helpful.

The Mindspell product looks nice, but it appears to be limited to single words.
