I have a page where a column of text wraps around to the right side of a piece of art. The text includes a lettered list, (A., B., C., etc.) set up in the paragraph style. When the text wraps around the image object, the spacing between the key letter and the copy that follows gets really wide. The letter of the list stays in the correct place, but the copy starts three quarters of an inch away from it. If I make the image a hair narrower by moving the right edge of the graphic frame closer to the center of the image, then the space between the key letter and the copy goes back to normal.

I tried playing with the tab structure in the list options of the style, but I can't seem to figure out what variable would control that dimension. Any ideas why that might be happening?

Experiment with using a different separator between the letter and the text, like the Em Space or En Space instead of the tab. See my post on this topic from a few years ago: https://creativepro.com/cre…..ndents.php

Chalk that up to a “duh”… I didn't even realize I had a tab in the Grep code of that field. That must be the default setting, because I can't remember typing that myself. I did have it correct in a different style though, so maybe I'm crazy. Thanks Anne-Marie, InDesign Secrets is the best!
