When i zoom in/out by holding alt + scrolling, the zooming is too abrupt. I tried changing the scroll speed in InDesign with an app (Smart Scroll) but this makes the scrolling quite buggy and isn’t working properly. I noticed that the magnification is following predefined steps (100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, …) Is there a way to change these steps to obtain a smoother scrolling?

I don’t know. If you’re using CC 2017, you might try disabling the GPU (in the Preferences dialog box) and see if that makes it smoother.

I forgot to mention my technical details: InDesign cc 2017 (the one before the last update because i didn’t like the new interface) and i work on a brand new iMac 27inch 5K late 2015, 16GB RAM, AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048 MB. Disabling the GPU didn’t change anything, the main problem is the steps in magnification (100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, …) are too big. When i scroll zoom a little too far i go from 100% to 1200% or 5%.

I now have a similar problem with scrolling in the latest version. When i flick the mouse to scroll, there is a 1 second delay. It was instant a few weeks ago.
GPU Performance is greyed out on my iMac so it can’t be that.
