Skip Page #s for Divider Pages

I know I can use Numbering & Section Options to reset the page #s after a section divider page, but I'm looking for a faster way. If I have a long document with lots of unnumbered divider pages and the pages need to be rearranged a fair amount at client's request, it would help a great deal to be able to have a button that says something like “ignore this page in page numbering” so the numbers just continue on around that page as if it weren't there. That when when I move it, I don't have to reset all my section starts.

Does anyone know of any plugin or anything that can do this?

What if you assign it a master page with no auto numbering on it?

That would be OK for the dividers, but not for the other pages. The following pages still need a section start.

I'm trying to avoid having to use a new section start after every divider, because there is a lot of page re-ordering going on. And the only reason for a new section start is to reset the numbering.

      Oh sorry, gotcha.

If you save every section as a separate document, you could use a Book. Moving sections around is then as simple as dragging these around.

Nice in theory, but the reason for wanting this is that the pages move between sections. This is for a client in an in-house design firm where they have several versions of this document with different combinations of pages based on who will be using it. So the usual solutions for creating a book etc. are too cumbersome.

Basically, a button that says “ignore this page when counting page numbers” is really what I want . . . I guess I need to add it to the Adobe feature request.

I am having the same problem and need a button that says “ignore this page when counting page numbers”, too. Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

I always suggest people use auto numbering instead of page numbering in weird situations like this: https://creativepro.com/use-numbered-lists-instead-of-auto-page-numbering.php

Of course, some stuff simply can’t be done then, such as TOC and indexing and x-refs.

      Ok, thanks David!
