Hi All,
I’ve been trying to find ways of speeding up my workflow when compiling information which is often used in a variety of documents, but I’ve hit a problem in keeping my page numbering as I’d like it.
At the moment I’ve database with lots of indesign ‘project sheets’ which each contain a few images and some text linked to incopy. I get requests to make brochures using these project sheets which are then bookended with some more specific information at the start and end of the document. So I’ve looked into setting up an Indesign Book for each of these brochures which allows me to drag and drop each of the project sheets into the book file. I’ve got the page numbering working, so that it all auto updates and makes a nice pdf for me to send out.
So far, so good.
My problem lies in the fact that these project sheets also need to be exported as standalone pdfs from time to time, and I’d like them to have no page number when exported like this. I’m aware that I can just put the page numbers in a layer of their own and turn them off when exporting as a single sheet, but I thought that there must be a better way to do this — one with less chance of human error.
I tried to ‘cheat’ by setting up the style for the page numbers to have no fill colour on the project sheet, and then for the style to be updated in the book from a different document ‘style source’. This, however, overwrites the project sheet indesign file, and therefore prevents the standalone sheet from having no fill colour applied to the page number style.
I hope that all made sense!
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks
