hi there, every shortcut in indesign 17.1 monterey works exept the one I use the most… hide guides.
in de view menu there is the normal shortcut command+; indicated. but it doesn’t work. a collegue of mine has the same problem. and we can’t find a solution.
      reinstall, deleting preferences… all tried.
is there a solution or do we have to use the ‘W’ option?

As you’re aware of the ‘W’ option to toggle between the various modes, are you absolutely sure you saw guides in preview mode previously?

hi steve, when i pull a guideline from the rulers, i see them in my document. when i hit command+; nothing happens… when i go to the menu view > grids & guides > hide (or view) guides (where i can see the shortcut combination) and click on it. the guides disappears or hides.

Check which screen mode you’re in (preview will not show your guides).

Does your shortcut work in any other mode?

Have you restarted INDD with the option/alt key pressed down to delete in-app prefs?

It sounds to me like some other feature or app is “stealing” your shortcut. That has happened to me. You might try changing or adding a different keyboard shortcut to that feature (Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts).

I made a new keyboard shortcut list, started from the default. and I deleted the shortcut ‘CMD+;’ at ‘show/hide guide’ and changed it to ‘CMD+:’. Now I can hide and show the guides (so I have a new shortcut). BUT… I gave the ‘CMD+;’ to ‘delete all guides’ (which had no shortcut) and there it works well.

so I think that the shortcut ‘CMD+;’ wasn’t take over by another app or feature.
