      Hello,

I’m relatively new to in design so I’m sure this is a rookie question. I am creating a two-page brochure. I have two text frames that cover the entire area on each page, one on each page so that I can add a background image to each page.

I have text frames containing the titles of each of the sections of my brochure on top of the text frames containing the background. A few of the text frames containing the titles are fine. However, the rest of them have a black box around them all of the time (whether they are selected or not.). I cannot select or do anything to modify these text frames.

I would appreciate any advice on how I can fix this.
      Thank you in advance.

The titles are in their own text frames? But you cannot select the frames? Are the frames behind other frames? (You can click through one object to the object below by command/ctrl-clicking with the black arrow Selection tool.) Or maybe they’re locked? (Choose Object > Unlock All on Spread)…?

      David,

Thank you for the help, you are exactly correct. The text frames were behind the background frame. I made in the background frame first and put the text on top of it. Any advice on what might have happened or how I can keep this problem from happening in the future?

      Thank you again.

Putting one frame on top of another is not really a problem; it’s just part of managing objects on your page. There are lots of ways to lay out a page.
