      Hi
I would like to set a global default for placing a PDF in a frame.
Currently, overtime I drag and drop a pdf it sets the crop to “Media” and I would like to change this behaviour to crop to “Trim”

I know I can hold shift etc to bring up the options but I want to change the default behaviour as the pdf files are being imported automatically.

      Any advice would be appreciated.

      Cheers
      Jeff

      Hi Jeff,

I played around a little with this and found that INDD will remember the desired option if you first use a regular Place command, select “Show Import Options” in the dialog box, and choose your import option (do NOT use the Shift key method). The subsequent imports through the Place command or drag ‘n’ drop will continue to use the same import option.

I verified this by creating a PDF with marks then placing it as described above using Trim as an option. I then placed turning off the Show Import Options and not using the Shift key method either and it placed at Trim size. I then did the same with drag ‘n’ drop. I repeated the same three placements using Media and it worked like a charm.

Hope it works for you as well.

      Bob
