Serial Numbers

      Hi all, i have a uv flatbed printer and a customer of mine requires items to be printed. However i have to load 105 items at a time to print and they need serial numbers also printed. I have previously done this in Illustrator by going through the whole jig and numbering one by one. that was fine when i had about 10 items or so. I searched all over on-line for a solution but everyone said to use InDesign. I am familiar with alot of adobe software (mainly ps and si)… Basically how do i import the ai template into ID and then add sequential numbering, i need to use 5 digits ie. 00001 – 00105 etc etc. I have to do 1,000 of these and i need to use ai to print the files to the rip software.

      So in short my question is how do i import from ai to id, do the numbering and then import back to ai?
