      Hello

I have a client who is looking in having a set of cards uniquely numbered. Any input asap would be greatly appreciated.

The example is 52 cards in a set. Printing both front and back.
The number (6pts, in Helvetica, white colour – this could be set up as a paragraph style) is a small footer on the front face of the card.

There are 500 sets, so Set one (52 cards) will all be 001.

In the end, there are 500 PDFs for printing. The printer they would like to use wants final artwork only.

I can do this manually, (Gonna take forever….)
Make one Indesign doc with 52×2 (104 pages) front and back of each card. On one locked layer Master artwork.
The on the Master page new layer 001.

Then change out 500 times, with a PDF preset for export.

There must be a simpler way. Is there a plugin or something?

      Many thanks
      Keane

There probably is a “correct” way to do this but if you made a spreadsheet with a calculation to increment a cell and repeated that however many you need, copy those cells and paste them into a story that is linked text boxes in the spot needed on the page, paste the text into the story and add pages as needed. The copied text will over set into each page.

      Hi thanks for reply.

To clarify, it’s the same number in each set, so Set 40 would be number “040” on the master pages of all the cards.

I would like a method to apply a sequence number automatically to 500 sets. So i don’t have to manually change the number.

      Thanks

The printer has agreed to print 1 copy x 500 unique artwork files?? That sounds like a crazy way to do it, even if you do work out how to automate the numbering. I’d be choosing a printer who can do the automatic numbering for you, with just one artwork file.
