I use the find/replace feature to view (and correct) all the “see page ##” in a 160 page document. Can I force the find/replace feature to start at page one and search page by page instead of jumping all over the document? And can I force the find/replace feature to not start over when I make a manual change?

The only way to start on page one is to make the first page active with the type tool. Then be sure you’re searching forward.

Is your entire document threaded? Or are there pages that aren’t threaded? If all threaded, it should go forward and not jump around. If it’s jumping around to various pages, then it seems something is not threaded.

If some are not threaded, search by “story” in the threaded section and not “document.” Then when all those are fixed, search by document for the unthreaded ones.

It shouldn’t be bouncing back to find the next one though, though it should find the next one.

      Thanks, Dwayne,
I’m working with a parts catalog, so almost none of the frames are threaded.

I’m also using InDesign CS3 (Hoping to become a CC member soon!) I don’t know anything about the search forward option. Is there a search backward feature?

Yeah-there are two buttons at the top right of the search box (under “direction”). Forward and Back.

I don’t have CS3, so maybe that wasn’t available in that version.

It does come in handy at times.

Good luck with your catalog. I don’t think there’s an easy way to do a search the way you would like.
