      Hi!

I work as a freelancer and would usually install my scripts in a Scripts folder residing in Adobe Indesign > en_GB in Preferences folder. I install the custom scripts in the similar directory path at home to differentiate them from the defaults. I have no problems until now.

The default ones residing in the Apps folder work fine. Not mine in the Pref folder. There is simply no response whatsoever.

I suspect that this company seems to have “block” any custom scripts from running, so I have to approach an IT personnel (a laborious process) to help me install my custom scripts into the Apps folder. Ditto for Illustrator scripts. And voila! The scripts ran successfully.

My question is, is there a way for me to bypass that “block” and make my scripts work regardless?
It is really a hassle and a pain to approach the IT whenever I wanna install a new script I found / need. It is akin to navigating through endless red tape. Sighs..

      Please help!
      I await positive answers!

What happens if you right-click on the folder in the Scripts panel and choose Reveal in Finder (or Explorer)? Can you get to the folder more easily? Remember that you need to put scripts inside the Scripts Panel folder, not the Scripts folder.

      Hi David !
Thanks for such a speedy reply!

I have no problems locating the scripts or the enclosing folders, be it the default scripts or the folder nested in Preferences (user/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 8.0/en_GB/Scripts/Scripts Panel).

It’s just that in order for the scripts to work in that office, they have to be installed in the Application folder themselves — and I have to contact the IT department as I don’t have Administrator privileges.

I was hoping that there is a workaround of some sort, to “unblock” what the administrator had set up (I don’t know what they did, maybe they block pop-up dialog windows from scripts? — I read somewhere about the suppressed dialog box suppressing the running of scripts).

Maybe I need a hack, oh gosh I don’t know. So that the scripts I install outside the Application folder (user/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 8.0/en_GB/Scripts/Scripts Panel) could run successfully…
