Script to create Index?

      I have a catalog that includes book titles and author name(s). Currently I select each and every author, and Shift+Option+Command+] to add it as an Index Entry (last name first). Is it possible to create a script that could find ALL text paragraph styled as “Author”, identify a name within it (sometimes there are multiple authors) and add it to an Index? Wishful thinking?
