      Can’t believe this isn’t built into InDesign…
      I guess they figure you’ll do it when you export to PDF.

      But I want all my objects (text frames, colored boxes and circles, unnamed gradients, etc.) in CMYK
      prior to export, and I don’t want to painstakingly hunt down and click each object to do it.

      Has anyone made a script or know of some trick? I tried highlighting all of them and changing
      to CMYK using the extended menu in the color panel, but that just makes them all the same color.

      Change to CMYK in Swatches, not Color.

      Swatches->Add Unnamed Colors

      Select all the Swatches->Swatch Options->Color Type: Process, Color Mode: CMYK

      Nice, that will actually work just fine. Thanks very much!

        So I take it that the InDesign folks did know what they were doing and that’s it’s built in?
