Inspired by David Blatner's article — Package Multiple Documents Quickly — I wrote a script that packages all InDesign documents in the selected folder.

If anybody is interested, it can be downloaded from here: https://kasyan.ho.com.ua/packag…..chive.html

If you have any ideas, suggestions or problems concerning this script, let me know at askoldich@yahoo.com.

Kasyan: Cool! Thank you so much. I'll check it out as soon as I can. (Once the new forum problems get figured out.) Wink

Excellent, thanks very much. I should have use for this at some stage. Particularly for a magazine I work on. I'd often put internal, external and regular adverts into different folders. And at the end of the project I would package all the artwork to the server.

This will be handy for just that. Put all the indesign files in one folder, Package them up.

      Thank you.

I forgot to mention that the script was written and tested on CS3, both for Mac and Windows. But yesterday I found out that it doesn't work in CS4, because Adobe added one more parameter for CS4. I am going to make the script compatible with CS4 as soon as possible.

I posted a new version of the script — 3.0 — which preserves original creation and modification dates, labels, etc of the files that are moved to Backup folder.

I have been using the Package for Archive script with CS3 with no problems. Just tried it with CS4 and it makes the “Archive” and “Backup” folders but they are empty. The log file:

      ——————— Script started — 2/22/10 22:33:54 ———————

Selected folder — /TDBDR for web
1 – ERROR — /TDBDR for web/TDBDR mockup.indd – Error: Invalid value for parameter 'versionComments' of event 'packageForPrint'. Expected String, but received TRUE.
2 – ERROR — /TDBDR for web/TDBDR mockup r1.indd – Error: Invalid value for parameter 'versionComments' of event 'packageForPrint'. Expected String, but received TRUE.

      ——————— Script finished — 2/22/10 22:33:56 ———————

Tried the script OSX 10.4.11 and OSX 10.6.2 with same result.

I not real proficient at scripting and any suggestions are appreciated.

It's strange — I just retested the script on CS4 (ID 6.0.4, Mac OC X 10.4.11) and it works on my side. The error says that the script is unhappy with versionComments parameter — but it's optional and I haven't included it into the script.

Could you get in touch with me by e-mail: askoldich [at] yahoo [dot] com and send me a file that causes the error?

BTW, recently I found a problem: script didn't work with files inside Documents folder on Mac — I corrected it in version 3.3

      Kasyan,

I moved the script from the Version 5.0 Scripts to the Version 6.0 Scripts Panel, per your suggestion, and the script ran as expected.

Thank you so much for the time you spent investigating this problem.
I will post this solution on the IndesignSecrets forum.

      Thanks again,
      Have a good day.
