Scaling with conditional text

I’ve been stumped on this for over a year. I’ve asked numerous experts but to no avail. There is no way to actually scale conditional text! I need a way to scale the text and then copy and paste it while keeping it the scaled size. When you scale a text box in indesign using the tool at the top of the page the conditional text doesn’t scale leaving all the conditional text too big (and in my case overset text everywhere). Another option is to make an alternate layout but that also has its downside. Indesign considers text in the alternate layouts as the original font size scaled to whatever size it’s been scaled and if you copy and paste from the alternate layout the text returns to its original font size. [The same is true when you use the paste into option.] Is there anyway to scale the text and then copy and paste it while keeping it the scaled font size?
      Am I missing something?
