      HI

Could someone explain me why this !@# running header doesnt work?

Lets say i have: (headerA and B have the same character style, the same paragraph style; no ‘+’ etc)

page1 – headerA – running headerA is OK (visible)
page2 – no header – running headerA is OK (visible)
page3 – headerB – running headerB is OK (visible)
page4 – no header but running headerA is visible not B !!!!!!!!!!
page5 – no header still headerA visible

When i remove headerA ouf of blue headerB appears on page 3,4,5 – as i wanted. Running characters A and B are not overrided (they sit on master pages)

Question is…why headerB is visible on page 3 but not visible on page 4,5.

      Nobody knows?

Is enywhere on net another good indesign forum to ask?

It’s hard to tell with only limited information. Can you provide a screenshot?

How are your variables set up (besides character style)? Are they set for first on page or last on page?

      look at this.
      https://goo.gl/photos/2mj5RMETyce3VTzQ7

header1 is on page1. Header2 is on page2 along with his running-header2 on top. Everything seems works ok.
      BUT
      On page3,4,5 instead of running-header2 i see again running-header1 – I dont know why.

When i remove header1 then running-header2 appears normally on page3,4,5 etc. That’s drives me crazy.

Settings of variables for running header doesnt matter -they are ok (they always worked fine with the same template, and they WORKS fine for the rest of template). Header 1 nad 2 has exactly the same paragraph, character, obiect styles (no overides). They are on the same layer,
On page 2,3,4 there is no other text (also hidden) frames, variables etc. nothing

I hope my question is now more understandable.

ps. please upgrade forum. No possibility to add pictures, bold, italic….nothing.

      Mat,
You should be able to add formatting by typing in HTML code, such as bold
You can add pictures by adding an html link to them.
However, I hear your point, and we will work on making the forum better in the future.

That sounds like a very frustrating problem. I would suggest exporting the document as IDML and then opening it again (to clear up corruption issues). Maybe rebuild your InDesign Preferences.

Do you have access to DropBox or something like that? If so, could you put your file in there and I can take a look.

If not–reply back and I can give you my email address and I can look at your file.

      Hi Mat,

Dwayne is right! Send us an .idml file test!

Thanks for hints but i have no time to be a detective. I just removed these two text-frames headers and made them again from scratch. It was strange because i must have made these brand new text frames three times before success (strange pernament paragraph override “+” sign which i was not able to clean out – no object/character style also) . But after fourth time – success. it works now, but i still dont understard where this odd behavior came from. I hope it never happen again.
