I'm doing something wrong. It's not working. I have painting directions to format for a labels. They have helv bold cond. run in subheads at the beginning fo each paragraph. I separate the paragraphs with .05 after each. Some subheads have either no character at the end, a colon or a dash before turning into the regular lighter face. Sometimes there are words with a colon or 3 lines of bold text right in the middle of a paragraph.
So I bring in the clients text from a MSWord file and it's in say Times or helv narrow, whatever he typed it in. I already have 2 character styles set for helv bold cond and helv reg cond.
Now I've tried selecting the first run in bold subhead and create a new nested style. I name the style, use the drop menu to select the name of the style, select up or through (tried both), select up 8 words, and end nested style. It changes the entire paragraph to bold.
Then my nested style name appears in character style menu.
I know I'm not stupid but this is a challenge and I haven't even tried grappling with the grep styles yet.
What do I do to make formatting these label directions easier?
