Rulers have disappeared from Indesign

      My issue is all of a sudden when I am opening previously created documents, the ruler is no longer visible and I have to commandR for them to show. I can’t see any option in preferences that says for the ruler to be permanently switched on and I don’t know what has changed within my Indesign for me to be having this problem the last few days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
