      Hi

Can anyone help me this one. I used to reset my InDesign preferences on Windows 7 using Shift+Ctrl+Alt. However, this doesn’t seem to work with Windows 8. I can do it manually but would like to know if there is a quicker way.

      Thanks

      George

      George,

I am a fan of manually dumping preferences. I guess I like to do things the hard way.

I don’t use Windows 8; however the path may be similar to Windows 7. See if you have the following:

      C:\Users\INSERTYOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 8.0\InDesign Defaults
      C:\Users\ INSERTYOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 8.0\Caches\InDesign SavedData

If you, copy them to a safe place and remove the originals. The next time you start up InDesign, it will rebuild them.

Let me know if that works. If the path is different for Windows 8 and you found it, let us know.

      Hi Justin

I know how to reset these manaully (it is exactly as you described). My question related to the Shift+Ctrl+Alt on launch method which worked with all members of the CS6 suite on both Mac and Windows 7. As I said, I cannot get this work on Windows 8.
