I’m working on a reflowable text ebook with, basically, chapter titles, subtitles and body. I used the HTML tags h1, h2 and p, respectively.
I want to split the document on the titles (this seems to work fine) but I’m also getting a page break before the subtitles.
The result is that I get the title on one page and the subtitle and body on the next. I don’t want this and I don’t know what’s causing it.

      Things I’ve tried:
I triple-checked that my subtitle paragraph style doesn’t have a split document export tag.
I deleted one of my subtitles as a test, so I know there’s no page break after the titles.
I edited the CSS for the h2 to tag so that it indicates “page-break-before: avoid” (I don’t know CSS).

      Any ideas?

Create “vanilla” paragraph styles from scratch, when this happened to me it seemed that a paragraph style was based on another (even though it wasn’t) was the culprit.

Yes I was going to suggest looking at the based-on state as well.

Thank you Anne and Steve for your help.
I tried applying a new paragraph style that was not based on another, but I kept getting the same issue.
Ultimately, what worked was changing the “h2” tag to a “p” tag for some reason. It’s not perfect, but I’ll work with it for now.

Then the resultant CSS had a force break for the offending tag.
