Double click the Gradient Swatch tool to bring up the panel.

Click once somewhere in the middle of the gradient bar and a new color stop is added. So far, this is great. I now have a frame with three colors. I chose Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta for each stop. Wonderful. Clicking and moving each of the diamond icons will create the effect I want.

Here is the problem. How do I get rid of any extra color stops? No matter what I do, the extra color stop remains attached to the bar.

Worse, if I click again under the gradient bar, new stops are added. Now way to remove them.

I spent most of the day looking for the answer and finally found it in the Help file for InDesign.

Remove an intermediate color from a gradient

?Select the intermediate color stop, and drag it to the edge of the panel.

Drag the color stop to the bottom edge. Of course, when I dragged it to the left or right edge, it left the stop sitting over the left or right stop.
