      Hello, all.

I have a huge project that involves Microsoft Word tables. I’ve imported them all into InDesign; but, a majority of the cells have paragraph markers preceding the actual content.

Does anyone know a way to delete paragraph/forced line break markers at the beginning of table cells using find/change or GREP?

      Thank you!

Find: ^\r Finds any paragraph marker at the start of a paragraph.
Leave the Change to: blank and change. However, If you use double returns for spacing this will remove the extra returns.

      One more question:

How does one remove ¶ from before the End of Story octothorpe character?

      Thank you!

There is actually a pre-made query for this called “Remove Trailing Whitespace. It removes any white space at the end of a paragraph.
When you select the query it shows +$

        • The+looks for any white space character one or more times.
        • The $looks for the end of a paragraph
        • .

So this query expression would read “find one or more white space characters followed by the end of a paragraph.”
