I am producing digital publications combining different scrolling options for the readers, as I like very much the experience of combining vertical articles scrollable by page or with smooth scrolling and the horizontal flow from one article to the other. But as far as I can understand, this is only doable with DPS used to produce an app, and it is not an option with FXL EPUB. Am I wrong? So, unless I will go into a Business subscription from May 2015, I will not be able to obtain the same reading experience with DPS, or? Thanks for your help

Yes, I believe that is correct. I have not seen scrollable text in FXL yet. (That is something that people are working on for the future.)

However, DPS is only one option for tablet app publishing. There are other options available!

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Very interesting your article on the differences between EPUB, DPS and PDF: this is exactly what is confusing me actually. I’m on lynda.com quite often but the latest developments in digital publishing have confused me a lot. It ‘s not easy to understand the consequences of the choice one makes when planning a digital publishing. For instance, I currently organize my work in one folder for each article (containing the indd file and the links folder) that I then upload on folio builder. Does it still make any sense? Or is it better to plan a single indd document with all the pages inside, if I will export it as an EPUB? Btw, is there any course on lynda.com on how to organize the work flow depending on the intent? Thanks!!!

For epub files, you want everything in a single INDD file. Very different than DPS. Anne-Marie Concepcion has some very good titles on lynda.com about EPUB and fixed layout epub.
