Hi I’m a new to this site.

I am trying to print to booklet. I have created a book and print preset. I cannot understand why, when printing chapters of the same book with the same print preset, some chapters come out 1 spread (2 pages) per A4 page (which is what I want) and other chapters come out 2 spreads (4 pages) per sheet.

If I print first to PDF, the PDF appears correctly (1 spread per sheet), but when I print the PDF, it comes out as 2 spreads per page!

It’s driving me absolutely nuts, any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Do you have some chapters with an odd number of pages? If so, you need to add a blank page to make it even. (Make sure Print Blank Pages is checked for printing.)

Hi Colleen, thanks for the suggestion. It doesn’t seem to make a difference unfortunately. Why do chapters have to be an even number of pages?

      Thanks Hol

Oh my god I think it’s working! So didn’t realise that the last page has to be left facing. I hope I’m not getting excited too soon, but it seems to have fixed it. Thank you!!

      Hope it works for you.

Re: Why do chapters have to be an even number of pages?

Typically, the first page of a new chapter is on the right side, an odd page, so the last page of each chapter needs to be an even number.

Also, keep in mind that a booklet needs to have a page count divisible by 4 (each sheet has 4 pages). So, if you have a 26-page document, you need to add two pages (blank or otherwise) to make the booklet.
