Please this is general forum, but calling more on ANNE-MARIE CONCEPTION attention, because she brought the awareness of the topic in me.
Hi AnneMarie. First thanks for a high valued tutorial on (InDesign CS6 to EPUB, Klndle, and lPad [2012]) but please I would like to find out the following, THE GUIDE SECTION (code) that you added at the end on OPF file, should it be used the way it is in any epub created without changing anything In it? Because I would like to use it by typing it the same way that I found it in the video and add it at the end of my EPUB OPT file
What I mean Marie? Could that GUIDE SECTION code of yours be referenced/used to any EPUB created without making any changes in it at all?
For better, please is there any where online that I can download GUIDE SECTION for EPUB OPT file for use in my EPUB OPT file. Thank you all for the great job.

      Hi Sampson,

I don’t recall exactly how I showed the guide section in that video, sorry. To get the correct wording for the Guide section your best bet is to follow the most recent Publisher Guidelines for the device (e.g. Kindle Publishing Guidelines) and see what they say.

But in general, I’d say yes, you can use the same markup I showed, just make sure you use the correct path to the target document in your ebook.

I do know that the Guide section is for EPUB 2. If you’re exporting to EPUB 3, the Landmarks section at the end of the toc.xhtml is where you put that info:
The recommended method is to provide a landmark like this in the navigation document:

      https://www.idpf.org/accessibility/guidelines/content/nav/landmarks.php

If you’re using InDesign CC 2014, you use the Object Export Options dialog’s epub:type menu to specify these elements, and InDesign will automatically include the landmarks (in EPUB 3) and the guide (in EPUB 2).

Also in InDesign CC 2014, you don’t need to specify where the cover is or where the in-book TOC is, it’ll pick that up and the info to landmarks/guide automatically.

      hope that helps!

Thank you a lot Anne, your answer really answered my question, fortunately I use InDesign 2014 CC, I will go by your instruction and I hope that it will work out fine for me, because your explanation is very clear.

Honestly I really like you so much Anne, you are such a soft minded teacher who takes time to explain things in details, I have watched several of your video from Lynda.com, and you left no room un-turned in any point that you explain, it only takes attention from the viewer to follow up. Thank you Anne.
