      Hi

Does anybody know how to place a snippet into a frame?

unlike pdf/images when I place a snippet with my place gun/cursor
on a frame it does not insert the snippet into the frame, rather,
just places it in it's original size on the page.

(I've tried preferences>file handling>snippet>”position at cursor location” – to no avail)

I'd really like to use the 'fit content proportionally' with placing snippets in frames.

      Thanks for any help:)

That would be cool, but InDesign does not support placing snippets inside a frame. At least, not that I know of. Instead of snippets, you might consider saving those objects out as InDesign files, then placing the InDesign files later into frames (which does work with fit content proportionally). To make InDesign files of just selected objects, you can use the LayoutZone scripts from automatication.com.
